Christopher Peter Jenkins, 22, of Gloucester, passed away in his sleep on Sunday evening as a result of a brain aneurysm. He was the beloved son of Kenneth C. and Sharon F. (Laurie) Jenkins and the greatest of friends with his brother Kyle whom he loved more than anything.
Chris was born in Gloucester on November 10, 1987 and as a young boy, showed the beginnings of becoming a leader, great friend and tremendous athlete. Growing up he played football with the East Gloucester Vikings where he came to be known as "The Stunna" because of his hard hits, Little League Baseball with the Reds and then onto the Junior League, and basketball with the Vikings. Chris was an outstanding football player for Gloucester High School Team where played for all four years as Guard and Center. He graduated Gloucester High School with the Class of 2006.
Following graduation, he attended Johnson & Wales College and later North Shore Community College for several years. He had formerly worked at Rose's Oil until he recently began employment with Varian Semiconductor.
Throughout his life, Chris was known for his infectious personality and warm smile. He had wonderful way about him which drew many, many friends who looked up to Chris and respected him. He touched the lives of so many in his short lifetime and he will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him, especially by his brother Kyle who meant everything to him.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth and Sharon and his brother Kyle; he is survived by his paternal grandparents John Jenkins Sr. and wife Pat; maternal grandmother Barbara Laurie; uncles and aunts, Maureen Klopotoski and husband Robert, John "Jack" Jenkins Jr. and wife Debbie, Mark Jenkins and wife Jane, Paul Jenkins and wife Ellie, Phillip Jenkins and companion Julie Dickenson, Davya Jenkins and companion Ed Krikorian, Rusty Jenkins and wife Lisa, Peter Jenkins, Alllyson Murray and husband Stephen, uncle, aunt and godparents David Laurie and wife Rosalie; special cousins Phil Jenkins, Lizzie Jenkins and Tim Klopotoski; many, many cousins, close friends Jeff Davis, Seth Morrisey, Matt Destino; Rev. Thomas J. Fleming, former Pastor of St. Peter's Church where Chris received his Sacraments and his beloved dog Bruschi.
He was predeceased by maternal grandfather Gilbert Russell Laurie, his beloved aunt Maureen Jenkins and uncles Thomas and Matthew Jenkins.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30th at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
