Kenneth W. Gleason

Kenneth W. Gleason, 73, of Gloucester, husband of the late Edith J. (Marques) Gleason died on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
He was born on April 2, 1938 son of the late George W. and Theodora (Romano) Gleason.
He was a graduate of Gloucester High School and served in the United States Navy.
In his early years, Ken worked for Sea Cold on Main Street, Gloucester and later started his own business, Gleason Refrigeration, a very successful trucking business for over 40 years and retired in 2009.
He was a life-long member of the Gloucester Lodge of Elks #892.
Ken loved walking his canine companions, Titan, Lux and Zena. He also enjoyed playing Keno at Tonyís (the unofficial city council) and at Edís Mini Mart with good friend Sunny.
His favorite pastime was constantly yelling at his son, Shawn.
Itís a fact, according to his roommate Harry Tozer, that he broke the record for the most visitors at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Ken will sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Shawn Gleason of Gloucester, his sister and his brother, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Tuesday, June 7, at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
There will be no visiting hours and the burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect Street, Gloucester, MA 01930 or to the Humane Society of the United States, HSUS, Dept. MEMIT9, 2100 L Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037 or online at www.humanesociety.org.
